Dr. Smith came to Starkville in 2002 after completing training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. In 2003, he and Mary Smith, CNP, started Starkville Orthopedic Clinic. Dr. Smith received his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi and his medical school degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. In addition to being board certified in general orthopedics, he obtained board certification in sports medicine in 2009. Dr. Smith has a practice focused in arthroscopy and sports medicine but treats general orthopedic conditions as well.
Dr. Michael Cox is the newest member of the Starkville Orthopedic family as he joined the team in July of 2009. Like Dr. Smith, Dr. Cox received his medical education from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and he completed his residency training with Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. There he gained extensive experience in arthroscopic management of shoulder and knee injuries at the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine. His interests include open and arthroscopic management of shoulder and knee injuries, adult and pediatric fracture care, and adult hip and knee reconstruction.
Mary has over 15 years of experience in the nursing profession with over 10 ten of them as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. She received her undergraduate degree from the Mississippi University for Women and her Master’s Degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Alabama. She works closely with Dr. Smith to ensure her patients receive exceptional orthopedic care.
Emily Perkins, FNP
Emily has over 12 years of experience in the nursing profession with the last two as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. She received both her undergraduate degree and master’s degree from the Mississippi University for Women. Emily joined Starkville Orthopedic Clinic in August 2011 and works closely with Dr. Smith to ensure her patients receive exceptional orthopedic care.
Kellie Cauthen, FNP
Kellie is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who received her undergraduate degree as well as her Master’s degree from The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She joined Starkville Orthopedic Clinic in August 2011 and works closely with Dr. Cox to provide quality orthopedic care to the patients they serve.
